From a die- MM> hard Cubs fan. Mark Mark I also enjoy watching the Cubs play. I like watching the afternoon games the best. I use to watch them when you knew they would probably lose before the game even started. It's nice to see that know they are at least in the running for the National League Central. I use to live in Benten Harbor, Mi. and even as a young boy would watch the Cubs play with my brother. I must say old Harry makes a lot of mistakes but he still is fun to listen to mistakes and all!!! Good luck to the Cubs! He asked a guy for a favor, the fan asked for a favor in GC> return and was (according to reports) intentionally insulted. I don't dispute the fact that Belle insulted the guy. If you can find me denying it, I'll be the first to admit it. I simply said that Belle didn't owe the guy a thing, especially IF the guy was being a butthead to Belle (and I'm not convinced that the guy was innocent). GC> And revoking the Giants tickets was probably a very positive public GC> relations gesture. It's also a sign that just because the guy is a season ticket holder, he's not necessarily going to be a "saint" in the stands. Some of the most abusive fans in sports ARE season ticket holders. GC> Was he? Do you know for a fact that the fan that caught the ball had GC> harrassed Belle? Did *HE* start it? And if so, why would he want a GC> ball or agree to graciously exchange the ball? No I don't and neither do you. As for the guy, hell, some people have a pair and they'll do what they think that they can get away with. My dad was as abusive as you could get but after the game, he'd be standing right there expecting to be able to get an autograph or whatever (and he'd have this real innocent look on his face while he was doing it). --- TrekEd 1.00 * Origin: Marge Schott, the cure for Baseball Fever (1:170/1701) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: DAS00001 Date: 06/22/96 From: MARK MILBURN Time: 08:11pm \/To: DAVE WELCH (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: Braves on the SLUMP p DW> DW> I use to live in Benten Harbor, Mi. and even as a young boy would DW> watch the Cubs play with my brother. I turn on the TV picture with the sound down and then turn on the radio and listen to Santo and Hughes. Santo's so full of himself he's a little hard to take sometimes, but better than listening to Harry introduce all the Buick dealers in Illinois and forgetting to broadcast the game! The Cubs are fun to watch now...they have the best bench and best regulars (other than pitching) they have had for many many years. If they had just one more reliable pitcher they would have a pretty good team. They have so many really good players stacked up in triple A that they should be able to trade for some pitching help one of these days, after some of the teams realize they can't make the playoffs and begin trying to get rid of high-priced talent. But gee, I've been saying "wait 'til next year" ever since I was a kid. Stay well, we're enjoying the Braves game on TV right now...Maddux is looking like he's back in form.
