I also think you're stretching -JD> regarding any excuse for his behavior in this Texas case. I'm with you. There is no justification for Belle's behavior in this instance. First he asks to have a fan (season ticket holder, in fact) come to the locker room, because he wants the baseball. The fan's request was more than reasonable - enabling both to come away from the park with a souvenir of a happy moment. Belle's attitude was "I deserve the ball, you deserve bleep". The fan was totally wrong, however. After Belle's (alleged) obscene retort, he should not have afforded Belle the chance to purchase the ball from him. He should have spit in the lackey's face that asked him to come over to the clubhouse. --- * Origin: Computer Castle / 20 Lines / Newton, NH / 603-382-0338 (1:324/127) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: DAF00016 Date: 06/10/96 From: GREG CALIRI Time: 12:51am \/To: JARED WALKER (Read 2 times) Subj: You call It 2 -JW> But you see the ball didn't bounce directly over the fence. -JW> It was knocked over by the left fielder. You have it right.... a few years ago (2? 3?) there was an incident in which the ball bounced off of Jose Canseco's head, and over the fence. It was a home run. --- * Origin: Computer Castle / 20 Lines / Newton, NH / 603-382-0338 (1:324/127) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: DAF00017 Date: 06/10/96 From: GREG CALIRI Time: 12:55am \/To: BOB WALSH (Read 2 times) Subj: The "Curve" * In a message originally sent to All, Bob Walsh stated: -BW> As a father of a player and coach of a little league team -BW> (12 year old -BW> boys) I have a question about curve balls. Any comments? Yes. Don't allow or encourage 12 year olds to throw curve balls. Since their ligaments/cartileges/etc. are still developing, it can cause permanent damage to their arms. Curve ball pitching is an extremely unnatural motion. Ask any physician. If anything, teach them to throw straighter and better (and faster), or teach them to pitch with their heads (strategically). --- * Origin: Computer Castle / 20 Lines / Newton, NH / 603-382-0338 (1:324/127) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: DAF00018 Date: 06/09/96 From: MATT MENTONE Time: 10:50am \/To: JARED WALKER (Read 2 times) Subj: Question PL>What is the most hits a team can possibly get in one inning PL>WITHOUT PL>scoring a run and describe the scenario?
