The catcher sees the runner heading home. If he steps out of the catcher's box, and tags the runner: is the runner out? That was the question as I remember it. I looked at the famous Jackie Robinson stealing home in the World Series against the Yankees. Here's the sequence of events as I saw it on the tape: Runner is taking a lead from third and jockeying back and forth. Whittey Ford goes into the windup. Catcher steps up to the Plate to block Plate and tag runner. So what is your call on this? The umpire called Robinson safe at home. You probably know the situation for this play, better than I do. In the above answer to Mark Yoder, I gave second base to the hitter. Bob --- PCBoard (R) v15.22/M 2 * Origin: *Binary illusions BBS* Albuq. My personal choice would be to take a player from the pre-Marvin Miller era and place him into the commissioners slot (biased suggestion - Richie Ashburn.) Such a player would have no allegiance to the owners since they treated them badly, while at the same time no allegiance to the current players of whom most past players look upon with disgust as raping the game for themselves. --- GEcho 1.00 * Origin: Sports And More BBS.
