That's why I go back to, and quote, "the books" when someone states the history of the 12 step programs a little different than it is written. That made me a little unpopular here for a while. I had this terrible fear of becoming some sort of "holly GU>roller".... there were others who told me a lot of things also, and I GU>rejected it simple because it wasn't something I wanted to hear... those There was a lady in the program who told me (after some time) that she had been praying for me. I kinda resented that. What was she praying for?!?!? I mumbled a "thank you", but did not know what to make of it. I did not want any "holly roller" stuff either. Now I pray for other people regularly. As you said... there was a lot of stuff I didn't want to hear. Now I listen to everything. I take what I can use, and thank people for the rest, as I walk away from it. A year or two later, I sometimes come back to what I walked away from!
