But thats way off topic... But, I can TA> tell you that drinking and nudism don't have to go together (G) I had such a giggle the other day! I was at a party with a few friends, and a few of the people were drinking. I took everyone's keys and locked them up, as is my wont , and proceeded to have a great time laughing at the drunk people. ;) A couple of the guys were *really* toasted and decided to try and play cards. In the way of drunks, they began to argue about what to play. I sat down, shuffled the cards, and dealt each of us five. I announced that we were playing five card draw, aces and twos wild, clothing to be removed if the game was lost. :) They all agreed, of course, being squiffy (as my roomie puts it...grin). The next morning, they were mourning over their (ahem) losses of the prior evening. I just smiled... they kept asking me why I would play when sober! ;) Hehehe... Ally ... My husband occasionally drinks (very...about three times in the past two years...grin), and I *still* marvel at him going out dancing, ordering a rum and coke, and leaving three fourths of it on the table, luke-warm! :) It beats him getting all uptight and not taking me anywhere, though... when we first got together, he got all nervous if we were going out to a nightclub or something. I just told him that *I* was the drunk, not him, and that whether I drank or not was my choice (getting into the Higher Power thing came later). Where upon the young man said, "Well, maybe if To> you had spilled less and drank more you would have gotten here faster To> you old fart!" Hehehe... this really made my day. I'm going to be (Goddess willing... grin) 5 years sober on Jan.1st. While I can't say I've had to work exceptionally hard at it, it's had it's rough times. One of them was when I was in my first year of sobriety. I was 19, and I'd had a really bad day. I'd applied for a job, and gotten snubbed by the woman interviewing. I went straight to a meeting afterwards, thinking of nothing more than, "Grant me some serenity so I don't punch the twit out!" When I got there, I discovered that I was the youngest person by about 20 years. I figured, Great! I'd get a *really* good meeting, listening to people the program has already worked for. Wrong... I had some old fart come up to me at break and tell me to go get my throat wet - I coudln't possibly be alcoholic as I was hardly old enough to drink! Well, I just thank my Higher Power that 1) I believe VERY strongly in that Higher Power and in the sobriety that has been granted to me, and 2) that I lived with someone 6 years sober at the time and I knew that this type of jerk wasn't "average" in AA. But I wonder... if I hadn't already known the program worked, through my roomie, would that man's comment have shoved me back out the door again, searching endlessly? Would I have followed his "suggstion"? I really respect the old timers... but I think some of them have to take their heads out of the sand (or the clouds) and realize that younger people come into the program all the time. Heck, out here, there's a Young People's meeting that has a HUGE membership...and every member is under 20. Ally ... I considered atheism, but there weren't enough holidays. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- Maximus/2 2.01wb * Origin: Sound Stage BBS - Live Via Satellite - (604)944-6476 (1:153/7070) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 231 RECOVERY Ref: CFZ00007 Date: 11/19/95 From: JOHNNY LEUTHARD Time: 11:20pm \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: SOBER PROGRAMING I am not sure if I will get into trouble putting this here but I don't want to break my anonymity, in other message area, so if I will take reply's in other areas as log as I get those area that is.
