You are incorrect. You can out to your local store and get yourself some 'Aquarium Salt For Freshwater Fish'. 1 tablespoon for 5 gallons is recommended and is the way I determine how much to put in my tank. However with salt you have to remember it doesn't evaporate nor get filtered out. You only have to put some more in when you do a water change. Salt will definitly help your fish in your tank(s) to reduce stress, improve gill functions and the like. Give it try. --- MacKennel 2.6 * Origin: The Hobby Shop - (314) 429-2456 - ST Louis, MO (1:100/587.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 229 AQUARIUMS Ref: DD500001 Date: 09/03/96 From: BO LAU Time: 11:05pm \/To: DAVE PHILLIPS (Read 3 times) Subj: Pleco Death {dp} I'm going to wait a bit and make sure everybody's ok {dp}before getting another pleco, but I expect I'll need {dp}somebody to eat my algae. Hmmm... With our Ple*co who we inherrited from someone who, shall I say wasn't the best at tank maintanence and although other fish would die, the Pleco kept on living. Since we have had the tank, all has been well. I'd say the Pleco is roughly 2 1/2 years old now, and doing fine also. With him lasting 3 weeks, I'd suspect poor stock.
