Anyone who watched "60 Minutes" tonight got to see what many of us already know - many doctors are dicks who don't give a hoot about the comfort of patients. A doctor in Virginia was successfully treating chronic pain patients with high doses of narcotics. So, between the Virginia medical board and the Drug Enforcement Administration, the licenses of both the doctor and the pharmacist who filled most of the doc's prescriptions were revoked. This acttion drove at least one of the doctor's patients to suicide, after he could no longer get relief for his pain. Does the medical board or DEA care? Hell, no! The board justifies its action by saying the doctor's treatment was unconventional. Guess what, assholes - CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT METHODS HAVEN'T WORKED!!! Heaven forbid chronic pain patients actually get helped, and are able to live their lives more comfortably. Overpaid sadists - that's all most of these quacks are. May they themselves be stricken with chronic severe pain, and then be ignored. *adh* --- MsgedSQ/2 3.35 * Origin: Nerve Center - Source of the SPINAL_INJURY echo! Please note that the doctor in question lost his license to practice medicine over his medically sound ethics in prescribing the needed pain killers in question. The rednecks on the Virginia medical board are the culprits in this case along with the people who appointed them to make decisions thay have no qualifications to make. When the inmates run the asylum, as in this case, the common good suffers all too often. BTW, the physician has had his right to practice medicine restored with the stupid proviso that he not prescribe the pain killers for a year. Quite a bunch of neanderthals that 60 minutes exposed to the public view. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: FIDONET * Remote Control BBS * (610)623-5273 (1:273/420.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 228 GRAND ROUNDS Ref: DGS00001 Date: 12/21/96 From: FRANK STARNS Time: 10:24pm \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: Echo dead?
