I'm getting locked out of an Access Table on a networked system and could use some help. The system is a customised Windows95-Access vehicle, with a series of tables within the database. Our table of interest acts as a standalone table, as far as I can tell, no Joins or Links to other tables. I'm told that it used to be that every now and then, users would be unable to update a record in the table because it "Is in use by ". Reports are that the frequency of lockouts rose as the number of users on the system rose (to eighteen at the very most). We are now in the position where we can't update the table when only one user is on the system. I am able to do all sorts of things when I access the table directly through MS-Access without activating the custom-written front-end. I notice an LDB extent file lurking around with the database in question, and until today I'd never seen one of these before. My best bet is that some rogue code in the application is not behaving. We have some source, we have the object, but we have no compiler. Could anyone shed light on this LDB extent that appears with the MDB file? Thanks in advance for any hints, suggestions or tips. christopher.greaves@pro-mail.com christopher.greaves@ablelink.org www.interlog.com/~cgreaves * 1st 2.00b #6263 * Don't Brake! --- PCBoard (R) v15.3 (OS/2) 5 * Origin: FidoNet: CAP/CANADA Support BBS : 416 287-0234 (1:250/710) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 226 WINDOWS ACCESS Ref: ECS00000Date: 08/22/97 From: TONY TOEWS Time: 07:45am \/To: CHRISTOPHER GREAVES (Read 3 times) Subj: Access LDB file??? -=> Quoting Christopher Greaves to All <=- CG> Could anyone shed light on this LDB extent that appears with the CG> MDB file? It's a file used to control locking. You can safely delete this at any time when no one is in the MDB as Access will always rebuild it. Indeed, in Access 97, it deletes the LDB automagically when no longer required. Here's a good one: (Access 2.0 and Access97) You want multiple sub-forms within a main form. You create all the forms. On the main form you put an Option group with 5 toggle buttons. The first 4 identify four subforms. You want the fifth button for a Close-Form action. 1. Not one of the toggle buttons WITHIN the option group will have an On-Click event. 2. The option group will have an On-Click event. 3. Any toggle buttons OUTSIDE an option group will have an On-Click event. Microsoft tech support says it's a feature. In both versions. And that costs me one of my four "lives". I have three free tech support calls left. christopher.greaves@pro-mail.com christopher.greaves@ablelink.org christopher.greaves@capcanada.com www.interlog.com/~cgreaves * 1st 2.00b #6263 * Don't Brake! --- PCBoard (R) v15.3 (OS/2) 5 * Origin: FidoNet: CAP/CANADA Support BBS : 416 287-0234 (1:250/710) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 226 WINDOWS ACCESS Ref: ECZ00000Date: 08/28/97 From: WANDA HALL Time: 06:03am \/To: DIETRICH LEHMANN (Read 3 times) Subj: Startparameter .-=Dietrich Lehmann said to Alle on 08-24-97=-. > Hallo Alle, > > wie lautet denn eigentlich die Befehlszeile, wenn ich in WIN95 aus dem > > "Ausfhren"-Fenster hinaus mit Word6.0 gleich das gewnschte Doku (z.B. > > "Test.doc") zusammen mit Word starten will ? > > Danke fr Eure Hilfe. > > Gre, Dietrich > > > *!* CrossPoint v3.1 > * Origin: (2:240/5070.18) .-=End of Quote=-. hmmm... well, I'd answer this (or try to) except, I can't read German! --- GEcho 1.20/Pro * Origin: Rosie's Place BBS! 2400 - 28800bps!
