The 2nd date will be a changing date but will change only when that record is edited; the edited date. (hopefully entered automatically). Does anyone know if this is possible? I have QUE's Using Access 2, which is pretty good but doesn't have a language reference. Version 1 did come with a language reference, but it was left out of version 2, hence it's inclusion in the Developers Kit. I'd seriously suggest going to Version 2. You could then take advantage of the Knowledge base, which is on microsofts website. It is about a 2MB help file with lots of 'how to' stuff. It is pretty essential if you ask me. DB> DB> Dave, I could be wrong on this but you won't do any damage by checking for this information within the base. Personally I always have a backup copy of my database for tinkering purposes. I would try looking for an autoexec macro. If you should find one then edit it and remove the Open, Form [Switchboard] reference that you would find inside it. If you don't find an Autoexec Macro he may have done it with a function so next I would look there. You can also redesign the Autoexec Macro to open the database with the New-Design Window open. Any other suggestions, corrections, etc. are welcome. I'm always trying to find a better way to do things myself. Let me know if this helps. By the way which book? If this is the problem just hold down the shift key when you open the database and the autoexec will be bypassed, and the database window will open. For example, if you had a [PaidOn] field and the field you wanted to contain the last modified date was called [Modified] , the On Change property for the [PaidOn] text box would look like this: Private Sub PaidOn_Change() Modified = Date End Sub jc ...
