So I can understand why you would consider holding back one of the babies. Cathy Toft (remember her?) has done a LOT of research on genetics, hybridization, etc. and has had a number of papers published. I think she would be a wonderful source for information on this subject. I have a 13 year old Greenwing that came here a couple of months ago. As near as we can tell the bird has lived its life in a room by its self, made to be quiet and not play. He (not sure, real small for a male but they said it was a male) just sits there... to the right of his cage door. Chews the hell out of the wood toys but will not play. Moody bird, sometimes lets you get him out of the cage, other times he moves to the edge of the pirch and backs away. We have managed to pet the top of his beak four or five times and then he shows some beak... We have been told over and over that another bird would help. We now have a 17 week old blue and gold who is a sweet, adorable bird. The Greenwing watches with interest as he plays both with us and toys. Major problem is if the blue and gold gets on the green wing's cage he will snap at him. (inside or out, we have alternated them inside the big cage where the greenwing lives in HOPE that he will see Rowdy play and start playing) Now I am worried that he will attack the blue and gold. I hate to say it but if we cannot get him to work and play well with others we may have to trade him for a more friendly bird. The kids (6 and 8) do understand to leave him alone (fear of missing fingers, he WILL snap) but they can play with the blue and gold. (who gets jealous if anyone plays with the greewing, the dogs, toys, etc. in front of him) Any suggestions ?? This poor guy seems to have been badly neglected. When we got him he was under weight and his color was dull. After a couple of weeks of fruits, veggies, and good parrot food he put on weight and the color came back beautifully. He will play peek-a-boo and holler if we leave the room but will not talk if we are in there. He has said "hello" a couple of times when he was in the room by his self. Sorry to ramble but I have a beautiful bird who is irregularly anti-social. --- FMail 0.94 * Origin: WANTED: Muzzle For Blue Crown Conure...
