You used to be able to send me email from E-World, and I've only had the one email account. Glad to hear that they are waiting on Amy's knee. She will need to build up the muscles anyway, whether or not she has the surgery, so if she can do it beforehand it should be easier. Sandbags. One thing, it won't get better on its own if it needs surgery so waiting won't hurt anything. Surprised to hear that a surgeon is taking a wait and see attitude though. TTYL. I know that a roll is bout DD>$150, I would prefer the 2 feet wide roll, but who sells it ? You may want to try any feed mills in your area (like the places that sell chicken feed, etc.) You should be able to find it. If you can't, Safeguard Industries in Pennsylvania sells it, along with knocked down cages made out of that wire. Their number is 1-800-433-1819. I believe it can be done, especially with a greenwing. They are smart birds and take very well to a "mutual respect" type of relationship. Unless he has been teased/abused by someone of either sex, I don't think he would be sex specific. What I mean by "mutual respect" is letting him know that you are boss, but that his opinion counts also (can be done). He will gain trust that way. If possible, before you buy him see if you can handle him. If so, I wouldn't worry. If not, how much hostility does he show towards you? Will his beak intimidate you? My greenwing loves to cuddle, go bye-bye, play with the dogs (she's in her cage, egging them on!), see if she can outsmart me and, bite my husband. If I put her on his arm, she takes one nip on his arm, just to let him know that she's boss. claire claire.conner@logon-philly.com ___ * UniQWK v4.1 * The Windows Mail Reader --- FLAME v1.1 * Origin: LOGON: Philadelphia 215-572-8240 (1:2614/723) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 225 PARROTS Ref: CCG00000 Date: 08/10/95 From: DEBBIE TENHOFF Time: 11:29pm \/To: KEITH ANDING (Read 4 times) Subj: McDonald Toy You mean my toy-box is worth GOLD??? Hi Brian, Just one little Quaker runs the house at the moment. Thinking of another one. My sister breeds and sells them. Neat little bird. On the trees to use, you mentioned no fruit tress. A fellow I know just got a bunch from a apple tree and he said it was OK to use. His B&G has been really chewing it up. He gave me some, now you got me wondering if it's ok to use. I'll have to ask around and get some other opinions too. Looks like we're sort of neighbors. Thanks for the info Brian. Hi Joanie, I'm new here and mostly confused but I got a chuckle over your Pepper. We have 5 birds and our painter is a Moluccan cockatoo, Jay. A few weeks ago he ate our front door. I was not thrilled about this since I had repainted that door just a few weeks earlier! My darling children took him out, placed him on a perch, left the door open and walked away. When I discovered him, a large portion of the door was gone. Grrrr! We replaced the door with a nice, new steel door (let him try to bite that!) which also had to be painted. When it was done, I left a brand new, unused paintbrush on top of an unopened paint can. He spotted that the next time he was out and rushed down to pick up the brush. He truly looked like he was ready to help paint the door. Maybe I should have let him? The previous owners of my Moluccan cockatoo (Jay) also had an umbrella cockatoo (Murphy). They successfully trained Murphy to the command of "Potty, Murphy." Murphy wasn't allowed out of her cage until she had done her business. Soon they were mystified as to why Murphy was trying so hard to obey with no results. The reason turned out to be that Jay learned how to say "Potty, Murphy" and was happily giving her the command before the humans could. Ha!Ha! My Timneh Grey is potty trained but I can't say I really did anything to train her. She wiggles her tail and waits until I can get some paper under and then responds to "Poop, Dori." I really think she was the one who trained me.
