You can get a lot of toll carriers offering 10 cents a minute day or night U.S. which is about 14 cents a minute Canadian funds (plus applicable taxes). I'd need to know how much the airtime component was in the 40 cents a minute to decide if it is a bargain or not. In speaking to the New York State Public Services Commissioner, a dear friend fo mine, he was floored at the deals I get with Bell Mobility on airtime in canada. Seems that while the cellular carriers in his state are entirely unregulated, if people bring to his attention bad behavior from the carriers, he can take action and remind the carriers they must be good -- or else! The or else can involve asking his legal advisor, the Attorney-General of NY on how to best protect the public interest and levying fines and if need be, asking the f.c.c. to consider revoking a carrier's licence to be a cellular company. I understand they have roaming agreements with most U.S. cellular carriers so yes you can probably use your phone in canada. Your corporate plan rate sounds pretty good. I am on flextalk 30 with the After Hours (free evenings/weekends) scheme from Bell Mobility, a Mobilink Company. I pay about $50 a month for 30 minues free primetime a month, 50 cents a minute after that, free evenings and weekends from 6 pm to 8 am next morning, and all day or night weekends. No cap on free airtime. I added my father's phone to my plan for $20 a month as what is called a Joint Account. he and i share the free time and features in my plan. Since he seldom uses my phone it is not a problem and when in Toronto I can use his phone to get a Toronto cellular number. Our phones are both Motorola flips and ourbatteries and cigarette lighter cords and chargers are interchangeable. Saves me hauling a charger with me when I am at his place. Only inconvenience is his cellular bill is included in mine and I have to pay both but let him know what he owes me. Corporate rate on Bell Cellular is $25 a month and 25 cents a minute day or night, you get 25% discount on add on features like after hours but on corporate rate evening time starts at 8 pm until 7 am and all day weekend. ...
