Is it a flag set by customer service or an option right on your phone? Only problem in Canada is getting overseas calling put on your line outside of 8 am to 8 pm when customer service is set up to deal with it. Actually outside of those hours, if you had a genuine emergency you could ask them to page the on-call manager and plead your case with them. Cellular fraud is a very big problem mainly in the U.S. though but they often grab esn and phone number information from phones in Canada to feed to cloners in New York City. ... Here, the entire state of Arkansas is a TE>toll-free area, provided that I'm in Arkansas, too. No roaming fees TE>in-state (recent development) and (more recently) the roam-free service TE>has been extended over to Tulsa, OK, western Tennessee, a small piece of TE>northwestern Mississippi, and southern Missouri. The toll-free area I referred to here was the landline one. With cellphones, there is no such thing as roaming within Australia. You can use your cellphone wherever you like and it just operates as usual. My provider has a flat rate to anywhere in Australia, so I just take my phone wherever I need to, even to the other side of the country and the call rate is the same to any other part of the country. The only roaming we have is if we go overseas, then global roaming has to be activated. TE>The trend seems to be that as long as you're paying them for air time, TE>the companies are becoming more forgiving about roaming and some long TE>distance. Where they have to tie in to the landline switches for LD is TE>still a sticky point, though... Seems every country has a different system. One of the things I found and liked about the USA was the lack of interference by Government in private affairs. We have a lot of freedom in Australia, probably as good as anywhere in the world, but the Government tend to over-protect the public, so in this case they have deemed that driving and talking on the phone is dangerous.
