I beleive it should be something like SETVER 3 C:\GW\KERNAL.EXE (or something similar) Those other users who have had to do likewise, will I am sure, jump in to correct me if I'm wrong. Next use the following command at the command line "setver kernal.exe 3.3" without the quote signs. On this laptop, TaskManager is nice now that I have things straightened out. On the desktop though, (in shipment now), TaskManager's switching isn't much faster than launch and return. The difference is that this laptop is a 386/25 with 4 MB RAM whereas the other is a 486DX4/120 with 24 MB of RAM. The only OpenDOS quirk I have is that CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work on this laptop, but I can type "boot" and it does the same thing. Still, this laptop is 100% Microsoft free, and that makes me quite happy. TTYL, Stephen Team OS/2, Team GEOS OS/2 & Geoworks Ensemble - What a combo! FIDO 6:760/4.3 ... A carefully written ASM program shouldn't consume more than 100 bytes or so. (Get rid of the environment, relocate the resident portion into the command line area in the PSP and release the original space, etc.) You might check the fido 80xxx assembly echo. Somebody there might be willing to do it as a challenge just to see how small they can get it. --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0162 * Origin: Jackalope Junction 501-785-5381 Ft Smith AR (1:3822/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 220 GEOWORKS Ref: E3Q00001 Date: 03/19/97 From: KRISHNA GANS Time: 08:59pm \/To: STEPHEN HAFFLY (Read 0 times) Subj: OpenDos and Geoworks Ensemble Stephen Haffly wrote to / schrieb an ALL Hej Stephen SH> Anyway, I have been working with OpenDos (freeware release of SH> Novell Dos 7 for those who haven't heard of it. SETVER KERNEL.EXE 3.30 Make sure you have DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE in your CONFIG.SYS and then type the line above at the DOS prompt. Reboot and all should be well. Virtually all DOS versions after 4.01 (except DR DOS 6.0) use this method of intercepting calls from an application checking the DOS version.
