Well there was a BBS glitch about that time. But the reloaded one was seen by several people who read comp.os.geos because they told me so. I'm not having any trouble with e-mail. Maybe you had my address written down wrong. It's anne.page@psl-online.com if you want to send me a test message. Edward Di Geronimo Jr wrote about what his friends think of Geoworks in response to my question about New Deal Office versus Microsoft Home Essentials: -> concerned that there aren't enough programs for it. The only other -> complaint they have is some of them don't like the UI, but that's -> only the people who spend their day on SGI's which have a better -> Motif than GEOS does (active window is the one the mouse is over, -> and a few minor What's a UI? What're SGI's? One problem that you mentioned with Microsoft programs is that they are difficult to learn for the uninitiated. Opening Windows for the first time is like opening a basket full of snakes. Very confusing and everything moving and changing. My 11 year old son who is adept at video games doesn't have a problem hacking his way in; but for my daughter, ease of use is an important consideration. The dearth of Geoworks programs compared to the Windows cornucupia may not be a problem since she is interested mainly in word processing and maybe DTP. My concern is that since to be competetive in the workplace everyone, sooner or later, has to learn Windows, why bother learning computers in an environment that is merely an interesting and efficient cul de sac? Why not learn to drive on the main highway which is Windows? --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.2k * Origin: Express Mail Systems : Marysville Michigan (1:11/470) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 220 GEOWORKS Ref: DEG00001 Date: 10/10/96 From: MR. There will be an upgrade & if orders for the program come in with a referal the referals are added up. 5 referal orders will get the person that refered a free gift, 20 referal orders get a free modem. The cost of an upgrade is $59.95 & Geoworks has in fact been changed to New Deal Office. It is still useable by a 286sx w/640k ram even now so this is *_STILL_* the best program around!!!!! Now all I need is to find the $$$ to send for the upgrade.
