--------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 220 GEOWORKS Ref: D5U00004 Date: 05/24/96 From: CHRIS SALLEK Time: 01:03am \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: Article On Geoworks Apparently the article about Geoworks appears in "Worth", June 1996 issue. The article is "Found: The Next Microsoft". However, it is about a number of high/new-tech firms. Geo- works isn't picked as THE next Microsoft (a bio-tech firm gets THAT honor) but I guess that you could say that Geo- works comes in with second place (again). Still, it's a very flattering mention of Geoworks. There will apparently be a chat log of this past weekend's Geoworks forum "Ol' Home Weekend" made available in the near future. It will take them some time to edit it up for neat- ness (it's about 1mB right now). I will NOT be posting it in any form here as it is just TOO big. Any newsworthy info will find it's way to you one way or another and most of the rest is just the chat room regulars being a little "silly" due to lack of sleep. In fact, there is currently a discussion of whether to include some all-in-fun hoax announcements, etc. in the published log as someone might take them as "real". For instance, there was an "announcement" that the next ver- sion of Ensemble would be renamed "BRILLIG". So we all went on a "rename Ensemble" tear... most were pretty good. --- * SLMR 2.0 * Broken down with a flat tire on the data two track. * Origin: The Hole BBS Va Beach Va (804) 431-1800 (1:275/71) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 220 GEOWORKS Ref: D5W00000 Date: 05/26/96 From: RALF BRINKMANN Time: 06:07pm \/To: CHRIS SALLEK (Read 1 times) Subj: @2:244/2122 > ---------------------------------- > The corrected listing is as follows: > __________________________________ > Police Academy | Wiesbaden, Germany | +49-611-1860516 > Ralf Brinkmann | 2:244/2122 | ZyX/V34/ISDN (300 - 64000) > Notes: IC/ZC of the GeoholicsNet. >>>>>>>>>> THIS ENTRY EXPIRES NOVEMBER 1996 Thank you! > the errors corrected. I don't know, we completely lost the message base here a few weeks back and I'm still tracking it all down. I can't see there being an Ensemble v3, as whatever the "new" product released (eventually) via the new republisher is not likely to even look the same, although I believe the Geos v3 that forms the basis of the new PDA/Phone systems is likely to be involved somewhere. > I asked about your source for this statement the first > time I read it and you replied "scuttlebutt". That's precisely it. This was reported scuttlebutt that I had heard around the traps. The big problem is that I no longer am close to "the traps", and in fact am taking a lower profile in regard to Geos due to the necessity of running two damn good jobs at the moment. > Do you stand by your original remarks? And is there any > fresh word "around the traps"? I guess that answers that. PS watch for WINK technologies. To your knowledge, are there any in Austrlia that do this and would you know their Fido Addresses? I have run GeoWorks on all my machines (from the old C64 to the IBMs spanning some 10 years or more) and would like to know a bit more about obtaining and/or providing support for this product. If you could offer any advice or suggestions it would be appreciated. Regards, Glenn ...
