In general, I prefer the Windows 3.1 interface (like the NT Workstation that is underneath this mail reader). I get real disgusted with all the cartoons like when you copy a file or dump the garbage. I'd rather that the operating system just did what I told it and stop wasting clock cycles with the hokey animation. Another thing that really tweaks me is the inability to get to the root of things. Too often, Windows 95 won't let me get to the root of a problem by insulating the user with menus or something. However: I actually have a fair amount of respect for this man, and though we haven't been able between us yet to come to a conclusion about just what the problem is, I think calling him an "idiot" is perhaps out of line. What I should have said, instead of saying "he denied it," was "he said it was 'unlikely.'" I have since learned the chips were tested before they were installed in my machine, and they all came up clean. While it does get rid of the logo, so does using any command line parameter when loading Windows. But the fact remains that the purpose of doing "win /n" is to load without the network drivers. One thing we used to use this for is when working on a network machine when it's not connected to the network.
