JR>Norton Speed Disk from Norton Utilities 8.0 says that it cannot run in the JR>background or at all under W4WG with 32bit file access enabled... JR>I was wondering why this is... Essentially 32 bit FILE access virtualizes the volume's FAT. As a result any utility that attempts to directly manipulate the FAT will either fail or cause damage to your data. Many (most) of the norton tools directly access the FAT and as a result won't run under wfwg with 32 bit file access enabled. I believe a patch is available that allows you to run them. Microsoft motto: "DOS isn't done until Lotus won't run" There are a couple of packages available on MicroSoft's BBS or on ftp.microsoft.com for FREE! They also offer LanMan for Dos on both services not a bad price I'd say. The only thing you won't be able to do is share the drives and printers on the Dos machine unless you pick up "WorkGroups for Dos 3.11" which I believe runs about $40.00. I have spent the last five years developing the design for computer based software for the sports gaming industry, including a database theory for handicapping which seems to clearly provide the user a real ad- vantage over the odds maker. For the past nine months, my partner and I have been working on development of the first SDA product line (SDA.MMS), which we intend on marketing on a retail basis throughout the Country..... ..... and eventually on a GLOBAL BASIS. The time spent to get us to the current level of product development and completion has been over and above our regular professional time. Hence, our dilemma: our schedules will not afford us to complete product development (the writing of code and the testing of same) until more than likely sometime in '96. SDA is seeking 1-2 advanced programmers who is/are competent in VISUAL BASIC and C++ code. You must be willing to dedicate and commit your- self to at least 15 hours of programming time per week and you must be willing to work under the absolute direction of my partner as the head programmer and myself as the product developer. With 1-2 (preferrably two) programmers, SDA will be able to complete development and testing of MMS and have it ready to market within 2-3 months (the start of the NFL and College Football seasons!!). SDA has a complete Business Plan. We have established a budget for, development, marketing, distribution, clearing, customer service, admin- istration, and growth, which we would be happy to share upon proper intro- duction packaging. A minimum customer base of 2,000,000 in the United States is conser- vatively estimated. SDA projects unit sales, at $69.95 per unit, of at least 2.5% of said estimated customer base (50,000) during the first three years of marketing. This would compute to minimum sales of $3,500,000!! Participating Programmers would have two options available for remuneration for your pro- fessional time and contribution: being paid a pre-determined fee for your er- vices, to be paid at such time as sales revenue is sufficient to pay your ee; or becoming a corporate stock holder in SDA.MMS, Inc., and sharing in the short and long term anticipated profits of the Company. Five years of re- search allows SDA to assert that MMS is not a duplicate of a competing pro- duct anywhere in the United States!! In fact, one of the many advantages of MMS is that it can (and will) be marketed as a complimentary product for al- most any product or service presently prominent in the Sports Gaming ndustry. If you are a qualified programmer as defined herein and are interested in more information, please call me at the ABOVE phone number 24 hrs. per day.
