I understand the needed space for Corel Draw. I have an 850 Mg Western Digital Caviar series hard drive and the drive came with a driver called WDCDRV.386 that enables 32-bit disk/file access. Did you get that utility disk with your WD drives? When you install it, the Windows splash panel comes up first, then you'll see the message that the WDC driver is loading and then Windows loads. * SLMR 2.1a * IRS: We've got what it takes to take what you've got. --- GEcho 1.00 * Origin: 2010: A Computer Odyssey (317)398-2010 (1:231/1100) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 219 WINDOWS/WRKGRPS Ref: CAQ00003Date: 06/20/95 From: BOB MILLER Time: 06:39am \/To: MICHAEL LEE (Read 17 times) Subj: 32bfa and a new HD ML>Why do you have 3 partitions anyways? Are you using IDE or SCSI? Maybe he doesn't like the idea of a one line batch file using up an 8K cluster? Anyone who doesn't partition a 540 is either very rich or very stupid. You can very easily wind up wasting 100MB of space just from the larger cluster size. Indeed, just yesterday I read a post from someone who put 430K of files onto a new 1.2GB drive. Tried to add one more and got a "disk full" message. If the virtual memory screen says that you are using 32bfa, you are. It is never wrong. In general, with a diagnostic of some kind. I've used Manifest to spot open files. In your case, you only care about files that are open at the moment Windows launches so you only have to worry about TSRs and drivers. Few of those would hold files open: CAS FAX software and print spoolers are the likely culprits.
