At least with DOS you could figure out what was going on. With Windoze strange things happen for no apparent reason and you end up with nothing working right. Someone please save us from Microsoft. Ok, use Cybercom.drv as your driver for one, ...in pif, I have 200/200, X- windowed, X- background, X- detect idle time, ...in 386 enhanced, device contention, my comm port ,1 & 4, is set for never warn ...in ports, comm 1 & 4, Buad rate is 38400 (for my 28.8's), just type it in, 8n1, flow control is Hardware. ... in system.ini [386enh] add the following: IdleVMWakeUpTime=1 Int28Critical=off InDOSpolling=off ... don't forget to change under [boot] section of system.ini to comm.drv=cybercom.drv cybercom can usually be found on any bbs around town. On my mailer all transfer are optimal, on my BBS, transfer are optimal except for occasional users who get around 1400cps, I've found out why, these users, after questioned, did not have v42b (error compression/correction, etc.. enabled) and since I can't control how my users set their modems up, well... it's their loss....
