I have a spot of troubles with an Ethernet network. I think a lot of packets might be repeated in the transmissions, degrading the performance. Does anybody know of a piece of software that would enable me to look at what is happening at the packet level, running either on DOS or Windows. The network is a Windows for Workgroups. Something shareware or even public domain would be perfect. (I can FTP) Thanks in advance. CR>Funny, I can get WFWG to run on my 486SX/25 with only 4 megs of RAM. I also ran WFWG 3.11 on a 486SX/25. Although it did run fairly well, there's no comparison to the speed and multitasking abilities I've gained after upgrading my computer to a 486DX2/50 with 8 MBS of RAM. If you intend to run serious applications with your WFWG, you should add more memory and upgrade your CPU if you can afford it. If you intend on running Win95, it's a must. -= *Ken* =- --- * CMPQwk 1.42-R2 #9229 * Internet: kewe@ix.netcom.com * Mary had a little lamb, some wine, asparagus... * Origin: (1:278/230) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 219 WINDOWS/WRKGRPS Ref: CA500006Date: 06/01/95 From: PAUL JACOBS Time: 10:07pm \/To: DAVID ST.ONGE (Read 20 times) Subj: Re: Problems w/ WFWG -=> Quoting David St.onge to All <=- DS> I would like to know if anyone can help w/ this problem with WFWG. My system didn't come with a 32 bda driver but I'm using windows 32 bit file access and 32 bit disk access in windows for workgroups 3.11. Although it does work normally but there's a glitch; I can't use the floppies very heavily in windows with these features enabled. the system hangs and sys that the 32 bit disk access was unable to access your hardf disk etc. This happens only when I try to copy more than 1 meg from my floppies to the HD. (only under w4wg 3.11) win 3.1 worked fine. but I usually don't have to make that kind of floppy use and I can disable 32bda when I need to. I was wondering if U could attach that driver file to the reply message. any help is much appreciated! --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: Stained Glass Windows (1:250/228) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 219 WINDOWS/WRKGRPS Ref: CA500010Date: 06/03/95 From: BEN NATION Time: 04:16pm \/To: MUDWART (Read 20 times) Subj: Wildcat & WFWG M> Ben, -> AS> I am running my 2 line Wildcat 4.11 BBS in WFWG 3.11. The point is that you don't have an infinite amount of memory to cram things into. Also realize that some drivers require more space to load than while they're running. --- * WinQwk 2.0b#1216 * Friends may come and go but enemies accumulate --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: HANGER 18 BBS (206) 538-0381 (206) 538-0382 (1:3408/36.0)
