If I Had If my very last day was a Saturday, I would ask God to spare me just one week more. Then I'd get my pen and start writing, I'd write to the one's I love. By phone I call friends galore. And for those ones I could not reach, I'd travel to see by candle light. You see they'd know it was me to lightly nudge or rattle a door. I would travel a thousand fold miles, and if it were nessesary I'd travel even more. Today is Thursday. Now let me see. Saturday is the last day, the very last for me. It could be that one of my friends will find this, and the Sunday paper will print about this stint. And when I'm just lying there, and just before my Spirit is to soar, maybe the U.P. or the A.P. will pick this up and scatter me from door to door. You don't seem to realize, this gives me one week more. Actually when I found this, it put a smile on my face. So it may not be the Sunday paper for my Father, but seems the 'puter will get his point across just as well. Hope you're doing well kiddo', and the humidity isn't too bad up there. It has been a pretty nice 4th of July here. From http://www.usaweekend.com/respond/index.html ======= When baseball's All-Star Game is played in Cleveland this week, the ongoing debate over the use of Indian symbols as team mascots will come to a head. Should a sports team change its name, mascot or both because Native Americans find them objectionable? ======= Right now the tally stands at 32% agree they should change and 67% think it's 'OK'. If you have Internet access, please see that site and vote 'YES'. :-) jB-) --- * Origin: the fifth age - milford ct - 203-876-1473 (1:141/355) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 212 INDIAN AFFAIRS Ref: EBG00000Date: 07/11/97 From: SONDRA BALL Time: 06:12am \/To: LORRAINE PHILLIPS (Read 0 times) Subj: HOMESCHOOLING LP>On Maury Povich yesterday, the subject was bullying at school. One girl >(white), who looked about 10 years old, had had her clothes slashed and >even had a fork stuck right into her leg (the school nurse had had to >remove it). It seems a couple of girls had taken a dislike to her and >even though they were supposed to stay away from her, they still found >ways to assault her. This happens all too often at school. LP>The mother was asked if she'd considered changing schools. She said >that in that case the daughter wouldn't have learned how to stand up to >herself...! How would the mother feel if she was constantly assaulted >by her neighbours and when she tried to move away, was told that no, she >had to stay where she was until she learned to make the bullies stop >being bullies? I think childhood is the worst time in one's life. During childhood, most people are forced to spend hours everyday in a small room with people they would never choose to spend hours with otherwise. I would neevr choose to be a child again. Adulthood really is much better. LP>The environment in the junior high school (grades 8 and 9) I attended >was much more anti-social than any environment I've experienced in my >adult life, with the exception of the atmosphere in a room full of >drunks - yet I understand schools are even worse today. I don't buy the Junior high is, for most kids, the absolutely worst time in school, according to most teachers I've talked to. Peer pressure is at its height. Teasing is at its height. So is bullying.
