How did Adam's grandfather get to be Hungarian? Uh... the same way any other person would become Hungarian (or French or American) - "self-identified". In this case by Adam Esterhazy, who was a Hungarian prince. There _were_ other people on the planet before Adam, don't you know? I don't think there is anything anywhere that states he was the first human. Only that he was the "first of his line". There _were_ other lines. Anyone that has studied NA oral literature knows that. Who is Chuck Harder and what is his source? (Sounds similar to a "small-town Rush Lim-bah.") CM> you've been brainwashed! I don't think so. Check the defintion of "brainwash". CM> I thank you, I pay my fair share.... but I dissagee and that CM> makes me bad because people have been tricked, fooled and CM> brainwashed into just the same lingo your using now. Are you in jail? Have you ever been in jail? CM> "fair share" CM> the fair share keeps going up and I'm getting little return . There is nothing in a nation/state form of government that says the "return" has to be equitable. There are lots of people that don't "contribute" a _dime_ and "collect" a LOT. That's the way the system works. It's called "redistribution". Some NA groups call redistribution "potlatching" some NA groups call redistribution "giveaway". CM> may not be aware but laws and serivices differ for state to state. I am fully aware of that. CM> I'm down here] you not here. And I'm glad I am not there. CM> I don't want to abolish taxes just make them realistic...... The only way to do that is to cut back on the services provided by the community. Eliminate schools, fire departments, police departments, welfare, medical assistance, etc. and your taxes will go down. Pretty simple concept, huh? CM> you confussing issues here and that's not nice..... No, I'm not confusing issues. The "issue" here is "rules for the community". And the "rules" are different depending on the size of the "community". Throughout the ages personkind has had "families", "bands", "clans", "tribes", "city-states", "nation-states", etc. The rules MUST be different for each group depending on the size as just one of the many factors. CM> you know what I mean like laws that say you must ware a seatbelt You must wear a seatbelt because the representatives that were duly elected by the majority of the voting public say so. Those representatives don't want people hurting themselves and becoming a financial medical burden on he rest of the community. BTW, even if there was NO law mandating seatbelts, ou wouldn't ride in any vehicle I am driving without wearing a seatbelt. I don't want the additional medical bills jacking up my insurance. CM> etc. anti smoking in public (out doors) etc... As far as smoking outdoors, you are free to do that virtually anywhere someone else _isn't_. It's the fact that _other_ people might be subject to putting up with something they _don't_ want. I can show you a LOT more laces you can smoke until your brain fries and your lungs melt than you can show e where you can't smoke. Which is the greater "freedom"? Just like free speech. I can show a LOT more places where you can vocalize whatever you want to vocalize, write whatever you want to write, etc. than you can show me you can't. CM> I voted every past election sence I frist registered , but my CM> taxes have never went down ever not once. And how many times has the cost of providing governmental services gone own? It is also apparent that you must be in the minority of voters. Otherwise, your beliefs would be the "law of the land". And like I said before. If you want your taxes to go down, make less and your income tax will drop. Spend less and your sales tax will drop. Smoke less and your cigarette tax will drop. Own less real estate and your property tax will drop. Pretty simple concept, huh? BTW, my World Alamnac for 1997 shows me that the people of Tennessee pay ell _below_ the _average_ per capita tax. In fact, if I read the list correctly, there are only about three other states out of fifty where the people pay less tax per capita. No wonder you live where you do. If you moved to almost any other state, your taxes would increase. Actually, that may be true in Tennessee. Here in Oregon, there is a form of tax called the "lottery". Much of the revenue from that lottery is used to create other businesses or provide financial assitance to businesses. And, by law, cannot be used for government (although there are persistent efforts on the part of some to divert the funds to things like schools.) And on that same subject, please explain the TVA and tell me the benefits MY family obtained from that project by the federal taxes they paid. Also explain the federal Small Business Administration. My World Almanac also tells me that only 14.6% of the population in ennessee is "government". Way behind trade, manufacturing and services. Jim BTW, there is another way to possibly decrease your taxes. Convince the government to tax churches and other non-profit organizations that utilize services but don't pay for them. --- Blue Wave v2.12 * Origin: NorthWestern Genealogy BBS-Tualatin OR 503-692-0927 (1:105/212) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 212 INDIAN AFFAIRS Ref: E3300015Date: 03/02/97 From: JIM CASTO Time: 07:09am \/To: SONDRA BALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: books of Burchac -=> Quoting Sondra Ball to Monika Koethnig <=- SB> Hey, I wasn't scolding you. PMFJI (for Karolina's benefit) And just because one lives in the American society/community, it does NOT necessarliy mean they are a "member" of the Dominant Culture. Actually, I'm still looking for the good definition of DC. The closest, IMHO, we have ever come is the VERY GENERAL lists of attributes/attitudes comparing A/American/ Asian cultures. And I fit some of all of them. Probably more from the Asian and NA columns than from the American column. Article in today's paper about an organization that is studying "white culture". The white psychologist heading up the group is a diversity consultant for businesses and is married to a black woman. The group is called the Center for the Study of White American Culture. Where is it located you ask? Roselle, New Jersey. And they have a website but the URL was not given in the article. (BTW, I would ask the same of someone who wanted to express their opinion on the advantages/disadvantages of frontal lobotomies or the validity of regular automobile maintenance.) And if you are an expert with credentials my prof might accept, perhaps you could advise and assist me in writing my paper for the aforesaid class? Maybe you could help me with a topic by suggesting a few "unconstitutional" items pertaining to the time period of 1950 to the present? There only remains a 180-day comment period which ends in August at which time the Interior Department will make its final ruling. Twelve tribes have made it through the process since 1978. It's taken twenty years, three thousand three hundred pages of documents weighing one hundred seventy-eight pounds, hundreds of volunteer hours and much work by attornies and historians. One and a half million dollars was awarded the Cowlitz in the 1970s but the a federal agnecy refused to pay a "non-existent" tribe. That money has now grown to ten million dollars today. There are one thousand five hundred Cowlitz and they own seventeen acres. Information for the above post taken from "The Oregonian", March 1, 1997.
