I can only imagine what YOUR furniture must be made of after SB>raising Danes all these years (tempered steel?)... ;-) ...not just Danes. Greyhounds can do their share too. Tesla leapt across the living room and landed on our couch--it went SPROINNNNG! THUNK!, and it hasn't been the same since. Turned out that there is a heavy steel cable that runs the length of the sofa to keep the front-to-back springs under the cushions in the right place. That cable snapped when he hit the couch (95 pounds doing about 30mph...). Now when you sit on our couch, you sink most of the way to the floor. I keep telling myself I'll get the couch fixed when we teach the dog to stay off it. Thus far, he's defeated every method we've used to try to keep him off. He never gets up there when we're HOME, only when we're away, so I never catch him on it. So it appears we're doomed to sit in 'the black holes' whenever we use our couch from now on........ --Kathy * SLMR 2.1a * Birds: proof that 'heavier than air' can fly. --- Silver Xpress Mail System 5.4M3d.b2 * Origin: bloom county bbs * dearborn, mi * (313)582-0888 (1:2410/400) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 121 DOGS Ref: EFL00016 Date: 11/17/97 From: KATHY JOHNSON Time: 10:12am \/To: KATHLEEN WEAVER (Read 0 times) Subj: Dog food KW>I've noticed that at least one dog food is now being sold mouth to mouth o KW>to speak, Which brand is this? * SLMR 2.1a * "Al, it looks like I've leapt into a tagline!" --- Silver Xpress Mail System 5.4M3d.b2 * Origin: bloom county bbs * dearborn, mi * (313)582-0888 (1:2410/400) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 121 DOGS Ref: EFM00000 Date: 11/17/97 From: ROBBY DITTMANN Time: 04:32pm \/To: KATHY JOHNSON (Read 0 times) Subj: having a pet fixed KJ> BUT--for those men who have a problem with the idea of having their KJ> dogs' testicles removed, there is a new product that may help. I'm glad you DID! I don't know where my mind was.... It's been on Dals a lot lately. I have a friend who just lost his Irish Wolfhound who has two of the most ACTIVE Dals I've ever seen! They are whirling dervishes! Somehow I got to thinking they MUST not be susceptable because if THEY don't flip their tummy the breed must be safe! I Know that's not valid though. Thank you for catching my mental woolgathering. -> I believe any deep-chested, narrow-waisted breed is susceptable. -> Danes, Dobes, Greyhounds and all other sighthounds are the ones that -> come immediately to mind. I was wondering if you know a lady named Kelly Graham who is involved in Greyhound rescue. If you don't, you should. Do you have internet e-mail access? I'm pretty sure you do because I know you have a web page, but I don't recall what it is and I'd like to give her your address or give you hers. Please e-mail me at anne.page@psl-online.com as I somehow lost your snail mail address when I last reduced the size of my database. (That's why I haven't sent you any sample copies of my Canine Classified in the past year or so when I've published good stuff about rescue work.) Kelly Graham recently e-mailed me about my canine newspaper. She is a new participant in the dogwriters e-list. In the getting acquainted part of her post, she said, among other interesting things, "I share my home with four retired racing greyhounds. I'm an adoption representative for Ohio Greyhound Placement, Inc. My older three dogs have TDI and CGC certificates, but that's been the extent of our training so far. I do have one boy who might like a crack at his CD. The latest addition hasn't even been to basic obedience classes yet, but she's coming along nicely." If you don't know her already, I'd like to put you in touch with her, as I think you and she would become good BBS friends exchanging information about your common interest. Let me know if you want her e-mail address by writing to me in that forum. I don't think this is fair because not all > people do this. BRandi Hi: No, not all do....BUT to too many do. Christmas is a rotten time to give a puppy as a gift. To much confusion, Not enough time to spend with the puppy so the pup is ignorned until it either eats an ornament or piddles or poops on some ones new sweater.....so it is shoved out of the way.....nearly forgoten.....afet several weeks the pup is either left out side in all kids of weather or taken to the local HS or AC. Most reputable breeders will not sell a puppy for Xmass. They will however keep the pup until some weeks after Xmass. When the household has returned to it's normal routein. No! not all do this but way way far many do. Yes that does happen in the US. The only food that this not done is for human grade food. Animal Food is made from road kill, sick, dying, dead animals. In fact dogs are fed dogs cats are fed cats ETC. ETC. Just as cows and sheep are made into canniables the same way. In fact the whole animal is put in to a rendering vat. If you want to here a lot of hemming and hawing just call the manufatuor of the dog food you feed. At this time, as far as I am aware only two dog food companies do not use method of finding protein. This is why, I now feed a natural diet to my dogs.
