What I need is a PAL script that would change a numeric string to an alpha numeric string. As a teacher, I have developed my own marks recording programme in Pdoxwin but the students wish to have the marks sorted A,B,C+ etc. in the report I generate for them. So ... is there an easy way for me to generate a report having the percentages converted to letter grades? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Then you could run a query (joining on the numeric values) and check off the alpha field. You can of course do a script but this might suffice in your case. --------------- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LAST Message In Thread <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 119 PARADOX Ref: C4I00001 Date: 04/11/95 From: JIM COBURN Time: 10:04pm \/To: ALL (Read 8 times) Subj: Information wanted In the early-mid 80's there was a Database called "Condor" Does anyone have info on what happened to them or where to contact them Thanks * SPITFIRE v3.5 * Database Connections BBS * Supporting dBASE, Clipper, and More! --- Alexi/Mail 2.02b (#12) * Origin: Database Connections BBS * USR DS 16.8 * 713-980-3234 * (1:106/4196) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 119 PARADOX Ref: C4J00000 Date: 03/26/95 From: CURT WILSON Time: 11:08pm \/To: KENNETH ULLMAN (Read 8 times) Subj: Report Heading KU>is there any way of changing the report header dynamically. Then make the title of the report a field object which points to ReportTitle. Once that is done just set the value of the field from your calling FSL. ...Curt Wilson ...curt.wilson@tcf.com ...Santa Maria, CA --- CMPQwk #1.4 UNREGISTERED EVALUATION COPY * Origin: (1:212/3006) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 119 PARADOX Ref: C4K00000 Date: 04/14/95 From: LANCE LEONARD Time: 06:43pm \/To: JIM COBURN (Read 7 times) Subj: Information wanted Jim, JC> In the early-mid 80's there was a Database called "Condor" JC> JC> Does anyone have info on what happened to them or where to JC> contact them Whoo...that's going back awhile. Try stopping at a good library that stocks back issues of DBA and/or PC Mag. You should be able to find some old ads, which will give you a time frame to work with. If you're lucky, you might even find some articles covering what happened. If you've got access to CI$, you might even consider doing an IQSearch or something along those lines. DS> (person who is doing this, wants to control read and DS> filescan via Novell locking instead of locking via DS> Paradox control). Can't be done in 4.5--you need write access to the .NET file itself. Paradox is designed to provide that functionality using password. In 5.0, there's a way to set up access for use with CD-ROM, so that may be helpful here. But, you'd need to upgrade. Greetings... Over the course of the next few/several weeks, I'll be relocating to a new job and a new areas of the country. So, it's going to be a little difficult for me to stay completely current on the message load while this is happening. Once I find a board in the new area that carries this echo, I'll be back online more consistently, but in the mean time...I'm not ignoring you. (For those interested, I'm going to be working for The Burgiss Group, a database consultancy/training center/third-party vendor located in Hoboken, NJ. This is a bit of a move and it's taking a little to get arranged.) You can still post messages to me here, just be aware that I may not see them for a little while. If you need to reach me sooner, you can send email via CompuServe to 76117,3050 or via Internet to 76117.3050@compuserve.com. Either way, I'll get the messages when I check my CI$ account. You can create new tables, or copy existing ones, restructure, etc. No creation/modification to forms or reports (default form can be created tho...) Import hasn't been tested thoroughly (by me) yet. It does speed up our table processing dramatically. (1/2 the time at least) For larger files, I can't be sure, still trying to get the finer points of my applications working properly (setkey mentioned above). BTW: Heard back from Richard Sheng about TurboPAL, he's addressed the ZOOM problem and figured out why a string of field lookups was "corrupting" the lookups. An error handler on my part was "skipping" an error, Paradox ignored the error, and TurboPAL exited with an exception error. "Easy" fix from both ends. What I want, is for the form to *just* enclose the table FM> it's displaying. As you've already found out, resizing a form is a pain. It's much easier to size the form correctly and then make sure its Size To Fit property is checked. To do this, make sure the form is open in a Design window, e.g. the title bar says Form Design. Then select the page, that is click an unused area of the window until you see handles appear near the edges of you window. Next, drag the handles until the form is the size you want. That should get the size of the window close to what you want. Now, right+click (aka inspect) the form's Title bar and make sure Size to Fit is checked. Finally, save your form and then close the window. When you re-open the form, the window will be sized the way you wanted and also will appear in the center of the screen (or the Paradox Desktop, depending on the form's other properties.)
