The shell may be a bit soft, but it is no way decayed. DD> Interesting, no? And here I thought this was something unique in our area. We live in a senior housing park. Lots of the people feed peanuts to the birds and squirrels. Course the blue jays end up with most of them and are not particular where they deposit the things after they have satisfied themselves by taking them away from the squirrels and other birds. The jerks very seldom break them open and eat them. I have found them actually sprouting in the spring and have left them along in the past to see if they would grow, but they never get past a certain point before wilting down.
