Coyotes are quite happy to eat a dog if given a chance and they come in packs so your dog even if big, is alone and no match for them. How to scare them off? See those big plastic windmill looking flowers? They work for this relatively well if the coyotes arent starving. Wont keep them far off, but will keep them out of the yard itself. Dont spray longer than it takes to make some suds. Had a carpet like that in one place and it was truely lovely. Sort of a pale tannish color with muted grey, green, and blue in it. Oh..believe me..where we live, we know that Rabies isn't a joke..The dog usually goes in the out building at night..I know that coyotes are great at luring dogs out and then the pack attacks..I know that the coyotes aren't starving..there are plenty of small animals around..jackrabbits, cottontails, opposums, skunks, etc.. I think we may go and pick some up this weekend..(our yard is acres!) but it would look nice to have them around the boundaries of the property..
