This is a liquid which is in a single dose tube. You open the tube and squeeze the contents out between the animal's shoulders. It seems to be working well for us. It can only be gotten from a vet and is somewhat expensive, but not any worse than most "people medicine". MM> Do the indoor foggers work? Are they safe for fish tanks and gerbils? This certainly seems to be a case of "you get what you pay for". If you go this route I'd suggest getting the top of the line product and use at least one can more than you think you need. We tried using the cheapest with the minimal number of cans and it just didn't work on the hard to kill bugs like fleas. Foggers are safe for fish tanks, but certainly not gerbils, cats, children, spouses, or any other "air breather". Fleas take constant vigilance. You'll probably need a couple of fogger cycles several weeks apart in addition to treatment of the cats. I killed the first couple of rosemarys I had. Then I read up on them and found out what I was doing wrong. I had one in a self watering container. We get some pretty heavy rain down here in the summer. Can get an inch in just a short time. Rosemary gets root rot pretty quick. Also I read that it likes rather alkaline soil, so I had a little dolomite lime each year. I have one in the ground now, and since my soil is sandy it drains well. I've had this one several years now and it's really spread out. Also it blooms all the time. I'm lucky that my climate is mild so it can grow in the ground year round. I think many people have trouble when they have to bring it in for the winter. It's hard to harden off plants for the changes from outdoors to indoor. Marilyn ... Over WHAT hill? Where? When? It will provide the growing medium a constant warm temperature and accelerate seed germination. Soil Block Maker (for seed starting)To make soil blocks using a plastic ice cube tray: Drill a 3/8" hole in the bottom of each cube. Insert a bolt through each hole. Fill tray with moistened seed starter soil. Press soil firmly with thumb to compress it. Remove by turning tray upside down and slapping it on a hard flat surface. Repair Damaged PlantsTo repair damaged plants or bushes, use adhesive gauzetape wrapped a few times around the injured branch or stem. Most of the time a plant will mend itself. Keep a Garden RecordIf you own a computer or wordprocessor, then you may want to keepa garden record of: Vegetable/Flower Name; Seed Started Date; Planting Date; Harvest Date; and other notes. You can print this out at the end of the season. Protection for SeedlingsSave liter size soda bottles, they make excellent coverings to protect seedlings from late winter chill. Just cut off the bottomsoff the bottle. They can also be used to protect seedlings of fall planted root crops. Raised Bed BordersInstead of using wooden boards to build a raised bed border, use black plastic lawn edging, it can be cut to length, and lasts longer than wood. Sowing Seeds in the GardenThe most efficient way to sow a long row of seeds is to use a 3 ft.length of wood corner molding. Used as a guide, press the corner edge into the soil and move it back and forth in the soil to create a furrow. Thermos SoakSoak seed in warm water or 24 to 48 hours before planting to soften the seed coat and promote quicker sprouting. You can do so with warm water. The thermos keeps the water warm, and the wide mouth makes seed remove easy. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Fresh Start BBS * Edison NJ * (908) 248-1678 * (1:107/310.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 208 HOME & GARDEN Ref: E3300001 Date: 02/28/97 From: SANDRA PEAKE Time: 04:14pm \/To: TODD COPELAND (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: termites TC>chould dig into the wood and find the termite.
