I am sure my daughter would like me to try it. Here in Colorado, we seem (or I do anyway) battle annual infestations of Black Widow Spiders. Not being much of a spider enthusiast,...I would really rather not have them around. I have used many different methods of trying to rid my property of this little menaces...and hadn't had much luck until a couple of years ago. Having purchased some "Wasp & Hornet" knock-down spray for our hornets, it was the only thing available to me,...to get rid of a nasty Widow in a basement window well. I fired it at the Black Widow from inside the house,...directly through the screen. It stopped moving almost immediately. WOW!,...what a quick way to knock them out. Now, I go through 4-5 cans each year in my weekly "hunts". We get somewhere between 60-80 a year around the house. The best time I have found to go "hunting" is at night...with a flashlight,..and a can of Wasp&Hornet knock-down spray. At night, they position themselves visibly in their web. During the day, I keep an eye peeled for those long shiny 45 degree angled webs...that look like floss.(Some rifle scope Mfgrs, use Black Widow Spider web strands for the cross-hair reticle) You can tell if it is a Black Widow web, easily by "strumming" the web with your finger. If it is difficult to break,...you may have found one. (They have VERY strong web fibers, sometimes you can hear them 'pop' when they break) Actually, I would advise anyone trying to test the web,..by using something other than a finger,..like a piece of straw or a stick or something,...unless you "tease" it out of its hidding place...and stand a good chance of getting bit. I use the "teasing" tactic to tease them out,...if I find them inside the house in our basement. If you fail to tease them out...and destroy a part of their web, you may not find them there later,...they tend to relocate. The spray works 100% of the time, but so far as I know,..only on a direct t. (What a summer hobby) Mark --- GEcho 1.11+ * Origin: GUARDIAN SYSTEM DEN, CO.
