Remember: NetBIOS is essentially a broadcast protocol, and LAN Server blurs the distinction between machine names and user names in some places. Network messaging is one place where this can cause confusion, since "names" for network messages are "global" across each domain and are registered as "available for receiving messages" when a machine's requester starts or when a user logs on. So a user logged on at previous machine using the same user ID, or a conflict between a user ID and a workstation's name can prevent a name from being registered, and thereby cause the warning message. The LAN Server Administration object, or the NET VIEW command, can help in the case where the conflict is between two machines both logged on to the domain using the same user ID. Note that this message is not a particularly severe error. All that it is telling you is that you could not be registered to receive network messages because someone/something else before you has already grabbed the name that you are trying to register with.
