I would really like to get Lynx/2 to do it instead of the DOS version because the os2 version is less cumbersome. I guess I'll just have to go back to my old way of doing it with Vmodem/Cyber Space Transporter/Linux. LAC --- Go Hypermail! * Origin: The Sphynx-Net BBS, Washington, D.C. It should be, but you'll need a second network card (this _is_ the LAN echo! :) ), for the DOS packet driver to use. LC> I know there's an Os2 version of Lynx. In case you're talking about a pure dialup situation, again, you'd need to set up Lynx and associated packet drivers as though OS/2 didn't exist. I don't know a way of making OS/2's TCP/IP stack to DOS packet driver based apps. :-( ... Peeeeyooooh! I tell ya man. I have MB> tried finding out about this but found nothing. Why is long filenames MB> a problem when connecting to a W95 machine and not an NT machine? I believe it's because of the versions of the SMB protocols that OS/2 and Win 95 support. The latest revision _common_ to both OSs only supports 8.3 filenames. Both Windows NT and Samba (UNIX SMB server) support the necessary revision of SMB for OS/2 clients to be able to use long filenames on these servers. There is no real cure for this problem that I know of, except to dump Win 95 or OS/2 (I know which I'd dump, and it's not OS/2 :) ); or ensure you only use 8.3 filenames over the network. :-( ... No go for long filenames. You're stuck with 8.3 names when using OS/2 and Win 95 on the same LAN. Only cure is to dump 95 in favour of NT. (longer explanation in previous message). As for your protocols, you are using either NetBIOS or NetBIOS over TCP/IP, otherwise Peer wouldn't be working at all. :-) Most likely NetBIOS (NetBEUI). This is configured when you install Peer, and can be changed later on with MPTS. ... Error loading GOD.SYS (A)bort or (U)nzip BIGBANG.ZIP. --- FMail/386 1.02 * Origin: The Bridge - Remote Sysop. [Here endeth the problem description] I use PMMail for I'net mailing (as usual) and having just updated to v1.91, was wondering if anyone has used it as an alternative to standard peer network messaging? I am looking at registering another copy for the second machine, then using the Custom Rexx exits on each to catch the "netmail" and divert it to "the other machine's" PMMail Inbox.
