To be exact, he is updating his code to add support for an exciting peripheral program, and I am doing the peripheral program. The FS> thing is, a peer machine can only share any given resource FS> (drives etc) with only one other machine. If you wanted to FS> have one computer share its drive with two other machines, FS> you'd need server software. At least that's the way I FS> understand it. You were doing really well until you got to here but I'm sure several people will tell you that. I use Peer to Peer for 4 machines here. I can access any of the shared resources any time the other machines are turned on. I'm sat downstairs now and this message will be stored on the BBS machine which has a dedicated CD-Rom server sat at the side of it. If my girlfriend was up and about and working on her book then she would be accessing her files which also live on the BBS and printing on the deskjet at the side of me. You get the picture I'm sure. Logically however, the BBS acts as a file server in that that's all it really does all day. FS> myself but I understand a hub costs somewhere in the FS> neighborhood of $100.00. Depends how big a hub you buy. For a small home network I can't really see any point in a hub unless you intend cat5 wiring your house with network sockets. =o) All it does is move the single point of failure to the hub. Unless there's some critical app running on one of the machines then it's not generally a problem having to break the line to add/remove something in co-ax unlike a business scenario. /| / neil.croft@pillarbox.coracle.com / |/eil =o) 2:250/410 @ fidonet http://osiris.sunderland.ac.uk/~ca5cru/fido/pillarbox.html --- * Origin: The Pillarbox BBS +44-1709-517224 (2:250/410) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 207 OS2 LAN Ref: DGQ00007 Date: 12/17/96 From: BOB HOLIDAY Time: 08:59am \/To: TOMI SKYTTA (Read 0 times) Subj: Warp 4 LAN Hello Tomi!
