Hello, I've found on the ressources kits disk a good utility : "autologon". The only problem is the "Close and login with another user name" don't work.. NT relogon only with this logon. I don't think that's possible in the context of a fidonet message base. You would need a minimum of Windows for Workgroups 3.11, as Windows 3.11 doesn't have built in networking (Windows 3.11 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11 are not the same windows). I don't think you can even buy Windows for Workgroups anymore, but If you do the compact install you can get Windows 95 on your 486-66 in 20-25meg of hard drive space. 16 meg of RAM is fine. -> Any help? Go to your bookstore and buy Windows Unleashed and read it or if this is not a hobbiest's computer system and/or you put a value on your time, you ought to just hire some one who works for cheep to come in and set it up for you. Not rocket science so you don't have to pay for a big buck network guy, and shouldn't take more than an hour or two, and you can learn from that --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.0 * Origin: All The Fido Conferences. telnet://docsplace.dyn.ml.o (1:3603/140) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 206 WINDOWS 32BIT Ref: F3J00003 Date: 03/14/98 From: CHRIS HOLTEN Time: 01:05pm \/To: ALEX RANALDI (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: Win98 -> CH> But both NTFS and HPFS are -far- superior file systems to FAT32 in both -> CH> performance and storage efficiency. Such is the price one pays for "backwar -> CH> compatiblity" with obsolete 15-25 year old software technology . -> how do you upgrade to NTFS and HPFS filesystems? Do you need NT? You need either OS/2 or upto NT v3.51 or NT 4.0 with NT 3.51's PINBALL.SYS to use HPFS. Any version of NT support NTFS. Only NT is capable of using NTFS. Windows 95 doesn't support NTFS or HPFS. FAT32 uses fewer resources than HPFS or NTFS so can be more easily supported in a DOS ONLY session of Windows 95. DOS only and having better file storage efficiency than the -grossly- inefficient FAT (FAT16, VFAT)is FAT 32's sole reason for existence. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v2.0 * Origin: All The Fido Conferences. telnet://docsplace.dyn.ml.o (1:3603/140) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 206 WINDOWS 32BIT Ref: F3J00004 Date: 03/12/98 From: DALE ROSS Time: 04:57pm \/To: ERNIE BOKKELKAMP (Read 2 times) Subj: The Rules DR>>This echo is for discussions concerning WIN32. I mention that, when installing NT, I DID selected the audio mixer option in the multimedia section. I did even uninstall and reinstall it (from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel w/ intermediate reboot of NT). Can someone help me ?
