That's not what I heard, and my roommate runs v8 on a three-year-old P90 and even a 486 occationally. MMX is used, but not required.Corel's own web page says *nothing* about MMX in the system requirements. SJ> However, the fact remains that v7 for Win3.x is a NEW release, How do you figure? It's *almost* a year old now. Version 8 is two months old. I wouldn't call it a new version at all. SJ> It tells me that there was enough demand for a Win3.x version to SJ> justify releasing one. I'd agree that there's enough demand from win16 users to continue selling v7, but since WordPerfect has gone completely win32 in the latest release, I've got to believe that the demand has lessened in the last year. I don't know if it will, but even if it does, all you've got to do is boot with the NT install diskettes and choose the repair option. That'll fix it up without requiring an NT reinstall. I've got 10 or so of them with long file names on about 80 gigs of disk. The Word Perfect Presentation program SUPPORTS an MMX cpu... it doesn't REQUIRE one... and that's the only component of Word Perfect Suite 8 that includes MMX support... there are a number of other improvements in that software version, including better performance in less disk space than in ver 7.0. When I installed the "patch" it put me back to 2.0 (from 2.0B). Then, when I reinstalled the 2.0B service pack I wound up with the best of both. I didn't even notice this until the Cheyenne folks pointed me in the right direction.
