I know that. It's not such a big deal. SGI managed it with IRIX 6.x (except for the general lousy programming of IRIX which i fear will worsen when they start shoving Unicos into the code), Digital did with OpenVMS and Digital Unix (while even mixing OSF/1 stuff with Ultrix), the Linux team did it with Linux for Alpha, all in a reasonably short time. I disagree; the 64bit port to Alpha is on track and once Intel/HP release first samples of Merced I'm sure Microsoft will start working on that. Simple reason: big scale database servers are a fast growing market. -- Cheers, Bernd. ## Fido: 2:2448/615.14 Gernet: 21:495/5098.14 ## ## CIS: 100111,3061 Internet: b.backhaus@dortmund.netsurf.de ## --- CrossPoint v3.11 R * Origin: Coffee detected - Scotty beam it up. Somewhat familar with Networker. Agree, nightmare. I really don't like the requirements to keep lots of free space for the index database. framsey@goodyear.com; frank.ramsey@fallsbbs.com - CNE, CNA-4, PE --- EZPoint V2.2 * Origin: -- A Point on Pine Lake (330)-796-3146 -- (1:157/603.70) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 206 WINDOWS 32BIT Ref: EBC00091 Date: 07/03/97 From: FRANK RAMSEY Time: 09:26pm \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: Updating NT service packs to clients How are you distributing NT 4 service packs to workstaitons without visiting each workstation?
