This works well when I connect to Windows NT 3.51 and Windows NT workstation 4. But in order to connect to a Windows NT 4 server, I need to be member of the administrator group in order to access any keys under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section. I have tried to add myselves as a user on the remote server with full control to the above mentioned key. This without any luck. This applies to servers set up in both workgroups and domains. It's no difference. Tests with regedt32.exe and regedit.exe gives the same result, so it's not my application that is the problem. Is there some way give some users/groups access to this part of registry on Windows NT 4.00 servers? Has it something to do with the way the NT Server sets the security for the standard shares? I understand why they have restricted the access to the registry. We have a Windows NT 3.51 server with default registry security set up in our office. From remote machines with Guest access I can easily connect to registry on that server and modify registry settings. This is not good. But I don't understand why I can't grant access to users that I trust using the Security / Permissions ... menu item from regedt32.exe ! ? I've been using Disk-Keeper Lite for the last little while, and it gets the job done (and thats about it). But i can't ask for much considering the price of the program. :) Shayne --- * Origin: All work and no play ...
