Does it work in NT? And more important: How many CS>errors does it make when writing a CD? Speed? Time to fill a CD? The big thing with IDE-anything is CPU utilization. It'd be more important o ensure the system doesn't get busy (or have a "fast enough" (whatever that means) processor to handle the load) during writes. The newer drives are now implementing packetized writing, meaning the writer can stop and start, much reducing the age-old buffer underruns that plague normal CD writing. owever, older CD drives won't read the packetized CDs so upgrading those would be necessary. The speed/time to fill a CD would be a fuction of the writing speed - 2x is the standard for low-end (~$500 U.S.) writers. --- *Durango b200 #NR* DurangoMail for Windows NT/95 * KMail 3.10o Knight Moves --- QScan/PCB v1.17b / 01-0406 * Origin: Knight Moves - Rochester,NY 716-865-2106 (1:2613/313) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 206 WINDOWS 32BIT Ref: E5H00001 Date: 05/11/97 From: JEFF GUERDAT Time: 10:46am \/To: CHRISTER SOLSTRAND (Read 5 times) Subj: Writable CD for NT On 05-10-97, CHRISTER SOLSTRAND said to CHRIS HOLTEN: CS>Maybe not, but I thought there were no IDE CD-writers because the IDE bus CS>cannot sustain the data flow needed by the writer.
