I just noticed a Compaq tape backup unit at work. It's a DLT drive. I *think* it's a linear tracking tape unlike Dat and 8mm helical scan drives. Each cartridge (the size of a stack of six or seven 3.5" diskettes) does 15GB uncompressed. And it's blazingly fast.
