I suspect we'll see a new script supporting the -> DS> x2 stuff soon from USR. I've seen a few posts that say in x2 their -> DS> modems wouldn't answer. You can shut it off with a modem string so if -> DS> it's not working it's no great loss. -> With DOS boot disk in hand and sdl20 on the other disk, 1 down 2 to go. Well after reading the PDF format file I've pretty much decided X2 isn't a real go for me. According to the PDF the host or server modem (which I consider our modems to be) must have a digital connection. Meaning our callers won't be able to use X2 to connect to us unless we spring for ISDN connections and "I" series modems. Frankly, if I spring for more ISDN lines and put in TA's or USR "I"'s I won't be suggesting callers simply buy analog modems so they can get one way 56k connections since we'd definately be able to charge more for access to a true 56K or 128K duplex connection. The telco isn't about to make the ISDN connections cheaper just because some folks are dialing you with analog modems. While it might be good for us to have it to connect to a host I already have a ISDN router doing the duty that is doing full time Internet. -> Good idea, I was considering starting up my older portable for that urpose -> but so far so good. Works fine and a tad less risk oriented since nothing fancy is going on. -> I tried the 9/20/96 flash from a OS box and it wouldn't work, so I -> resorted to the DOS OS for that purpose, at least I don't have to -> remove the modems. I used to flash from OS/2 DOS box (without -> fossil) but under NT it must be the direct hardware access that -> nix's it. I just had a call from a local ISP that buys a lot of hardware from us. They've been flashing and actually had a few die (4 at present) I'd be careful with this one. -> The next one is my PX node, if you don't hear from me you'll know why, ood -> luck! Good luck to you as well. :) As I read it if you're connecting to an "I" you'll get 56K inbound, 33K/28K outbound. When you're connectiong to anything else you'll get 33/28K. That would be a major majority since most of us have analog modem connections or not USR. -> cya at 56k Somehow I doubt it. :( Read those docs carefully.
