Yes there is.... two options for you: Find this fix at the MS ftp site: mspwlup1.zip 960523 220k Password list fix for Windows 95. Microsoft introduced a bug into the password list in he Service Pack 1 which can result in some passwords (including your password for Dial-Up- Networking) being unable to be saved. This fixes it. Or even better (at least that's my oppinion): get hold of the Microsoft Dial-Up Ver. 1.2b for Windows 95. You can find it at their web site. Here is a description: MSDUN12B.ZIP 971128 1375k 7 Microsoft Dial-Up Ver. 1.2b for Windows 95. ISDN features are now supported in the Microsoft Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking Upgrade 1.2 (MSDUN). MSDUN 1.2 supports multilink, which allows you to bond two B channels together for 128k performance. This dialer is the improoved one that is included in the OSR2.x versions of Windows95 (Not the regular retail version of Windows 95). Yesterday I went into reading my email...stopped..had breakfast and came back to check something on the internet and I couldn't get into the server..kept asking for password..called server..tried to get into control panal network only it wouldn't open....so I had to install windows all over again which at first it didn't let me do that..something about it calling a dynamic link dll. Well I ran Cleansweep and got rid of that and reinstalled Windows. Gee...it's fixed I thought. Yeah right. Well, the display is messed up. I can only chose 16 colors..there are no other options. I have a pretty new Trident card (dont' know which one) and I had two choices in windows for the drivers..one was Trident for SVGA and the other was a P something. Tried both of those..nothing..Tried the standard SVGA driver..nothing. The monitor is new..only a couple months old so it's not that. Now I don't know what to do. I thought maybe a different driver so I went to Trident site on the web and they list about 100 drivers..haven't any idea which one it would be. But why if it worked ok before..I had the 250 million color option and the 16 bit high color option..why are they gone now? Jerry and I disagree on this one some, I think. Win95's original packaging said that a 386DX-33 and 8 MB's of RAM was minimum; I've seen it on such machines, and it was turtle-slow. Quite a few com- parisons on various tasks have shown that the 386DX-40 versus 486- SX-25 are generally comparable in speed. I don't think the slight performance difference between 33 & 40 MHz will speed things up to enough of an extent to compare with WfWg on those old machines. Bill D ... It sounds like you have a problem with the speed of your RAM, and a non-standard motherboard. Enhanced mode is slightly more 16/32 bit than standard mode which is more 8/16 bit code. Using the more powerful instructions appears to stress the memory interface more than the basic ones. The mobo probably won't work wiht OS/2 for the same reason. 'Divide by 0' may well be due to the motherboard trying to report a parity error or invalid opcode in a non-standard way. Sounds like time to replace the motherboard - or the whole machine.
