Under 95 it used to power down the hard drives after so many minutes of inactivity (Control Panel/Power) and turn off the monitor (Display/Screensaver)... NT doesn't seem to have these or any mention of power management in the help either. Can anyone help? Cheers! Tom. ... One thing that does it is if a program being loaded (in CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT, for example) writes to the standard error file, but I think there's something more subtle going on. I have two questions about Win95: OA> - What are the command line parameters for Windows Explorer? I don't know of any... OA> - How do I use DOSSTART.BAT? But I can answer this one.. DOSSTART.BAT is automatically run when you choose Shut Down->Restart in DOS mode. It loads drivers and such that Windows 95 doesn't need but DOS does, such as MSCDEX.EXE, mouse drivers, and perhaps a few other things, such as the CD-ROM driver. (Yes, really! The Creative 24x here has a special program that can load up .SYS files that normally can only be loaded using CONFIG.SYS!) Basically, if something isn't working right in DOS mode because it needs a driver, then add it to DOSSTART.BAT. If a driver in AUTOEXEC.BAT isn't needed for Win95, remove it and put it in DOSSTART.BAT.
