Hello to all Video fans.. My family and I am are wanting to get into videography, but we are on that limited income. Now I have experenience on JVC cameras and Cannons L1, but what we want is to get the Panasonic 456 pro-indus, and these items also 2 AG-1970 Decks, 1 AGA-9600 mixer and of course a nice Bogan tripod to support the camera. But I have a question, the dealer here in Atlanta wants to sell me some type of video editing software that can be used with a 486 computer. Now all this is fine and dandy, but we want to start of small and then grow, and I am not sure about the software, so I need your advice. At this time I am in the local churchs Video ministry and we are NOT TV broadcast quality. All my wife and family want is to know if it is better to get all the items above except THE VIDEO SOFTWARE,,,can I get by without it?. Hope to hear from some real pro's are just videographers help. If you are going to use a computer to make edit list of your video tape segments and/or run the tape machines I guess any computer can work. But if you intend to move the video into a digital computer to play with it and then dump it back to tape you need all the cpu power, RAM and disk space you can get. By today standards a 486 is a little too slow for digital work. While I am sure you can get it to do some stuff, if you intend to do more than play, it is likely you will very soon want/have to replace most of what you just bought to get performance you want. FWIW - The major cost in for h/w in this area is not the CPU or hard drives but RAM. You need lots of RAM. --- MacWoof 1.5.3 * Origin: Alex Va (1:109/70.4216@fidonet) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 201 PRO VIDEO Ref: CDF00000 Date: 09/05/95 From: MATTHEW SHESTOK Time: 08:20pm \/To: ALL (Read 7 times) Subj: WANTED: 1/2 inch reel to reel video play20:20:0309/05/95 I'm looking for a 1/2 inch reel to reel video player/recorder to transfer several tapes to beta.
