Yeah, I think that tendency is increasing all over. With all the nifty flips, tumbles, page turns, fly ins, etc., IMHO DVE moves/keys "fit" better than wipes. BPJ> NEW SONY SWITCHERS ARE BEING SHOW WITH FULL DVE INTEGRATION, BPJ> WITH NO OUTBOARD DVE NEEDED. Well, SONY would like to have the complete post facility or TV station implemented with their products, so the tighter they can integrate them, the more likely that will be to happen. It's good businesss on their part (even thugh it often hurts their local dealers, but that is another story - one of my pet peeves). BPJ> EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE WAITING FOR FULL DIGITAL TO GET OUT OF THE ANALOG BPJ> WIPE FRAME OF MIND. The wait is about over. Digital TV is already spreading as fast as wallets will allow . BTW, I understand Matsushita (Panasonic) is working on a consumer digital VHS machine. Anyone know anything about it? Is it digital on tape only? I would suspect the I/O would have to be analog, but was wondering if digital ports will be available. BPJ> JUST ANOTHER OPINION FROM THE DESERT. * WE DON'T USE WIPES AT KNXV Down with wipes! Hi all, A couple of New Years questions . . . 1) Is anyone using the FAST system on here . . . ? 2) If so, how do you like it . . . 3) How do you have it configured . . . 4) What Hard Drive Configuration(s) do you have . . . 5) What platform (type computer & its config.) do you have it in . . . 6) Do you have the D/pr option . . . (dual or single chnl.?) I am going to be installing one of these in our studio, and would like to hear some discussion(s) on the system? (if there is an Echo for Fast support., please let me know about this.) If the problem does not go away on its own in a few weeks, -> you may have to get a degaussing coil, usually only carried by a TV -> service center. Thanks for the input. I got it fixed, I think. It cured itself within a day except for a small strip across the middle of the screen. I took a smaller magnet and waived it up and down and side to side across the front of the set. After a few tries, I got it cured. It had me scared at first, though! :) Anyone have any suggestions for my CCD problem (the mini dots appearing)? What is used is a thin insulated wire rolled quite a few times into a large circle, it also has an on and off switch to turn off the electricty. It is like an electro magnet. This is called a degauseins ring. You are right in the way that you use the ring thought. You start close to the monitor and in slow circles pull the ring away from the screen, when you are about two feet away turn off the ring. It is always better to have someone show you how to do this, but it is a simple procedure. I guess the person that asked this question was seeing a loss of color in one of the corners of his monitors. Anyway sorry to but in... I have setup and demod' the FAST system on many occasions. We are a dealer for the FAST. I have setup mainly PC ones with a few POWER PC(mac). Entirely linear and AB roll. Have only done one Dpr and the guy bought it after one demo and we just haven't gotten around to reordering it. I prefer PC based any 486 will work fine our demo unit is just a 486dx33 with 8meg ram 500meg d and a 2meg vesa card..come to think of it its the same computer setup that i am using here at home except i only have 1meg vesa but i do have the cd rom which our demo unit doesn't. Recommend WP 6.0a for windows for cg since it has anti- aliasing fonts and corel draw for graphic import. Also buy the traing tape from KNOWLEDGEPATH VIDEO it is excellent for its quality although the talking head will definitley put you to sleep. FAST supprots the product very well. We have had only one failure out of 32 units that was the mini jack on the studio controller. FAST shipped a new studio controller to us fed-ex p1 saturday delivery. --- Maximus 2.01wb * Origin: The Lighthouse CBCS HST/V.32, Lansing MI, 517-321-0788 (1:159/950) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 201 PRO VIDEO Ref: C1B00000 Date: 01/04/95 From: RICHARD DONOVAN Time: 11:54pm \/To: MARK ANTHONY (Read 11 times) Subj: DSS(Digital Satellite Systems) MA| It is amazing what we americans take for granted. The degausser is AC and the Magnet has a continues Magnetic field. The reason that the CRTs'(pix tubes ) Get magnetized is because inside there is a Metal Screen about 2 inches infront of the crt front screen its called a SHADOW MASK which cleans up the cathode ray that passes through the holes so there isn't any Splash over of that beam to an adjacent color phosphorous dot on the tubes surface(the screen). The Shadow Mask is easily Magnetised being made of hard steel. Speakers,Electric Clocks,(Some)cable Boxes, and even VCRs' Anything that uses a Magnet or transformer or motor can Magnetize the shadow mask. There is a better way to de-gauss than using a Permanent Magnet. That is Using a Soldering Gun.. A 200+ watt GUN is best Use it as you would the de-gaussing coil...But it isn't Nearly as good as a De-gaussing coil..But in a pinch it is far better than a Permanent Magnet. Bill ...
