Telecast Has anyone seen stuff done with Radius' new Telecast card (might be called videovision studio pro). I'd like to know if it is really $7000 dollars better than the videovision studio setup. I'm starting a studio for Hi-8 online editing, multimedia and possibly later some mpeg CD-roms. I would be using an 8100 and Sony V-deck and SLV-1000. The ability to input in component intrigues and the better sound support is almost necessary. But is the quality going to be able to pay for itself? Also, can I get by without a TBC? I would rather use Sony's SLV-1000 for recording from the computer since it can be controlled with a V-box (and it is less $$$$). If a TBC would really make a difference, then maybe I should get the new EV-S7000 Hi-8 deck and Panasonic's AG1970. Or could I get an outboard TBC for reasonable $$. I'm soooo glad to have found this echo. But for many years now, for under $2,000 (street price) the Video Toaster has offered all of these, plus a switcher/DVE, framestore and first-rate 3D rendering/animation system. In any event, I think you're right that in the future, it will become more and more cost-effective to purchase accesories that use the computing power of an ordinary PC to drive video equipment, rather than buying expensive special-purpose video gear with a built-in computer that can only handle a single type of video application. ...
