A couple things to try before resorting to such drastic measures: First, try replacing the space with a wild-card character; ie "del xmas?gif" If that doesn't work, the BASIC "kill" command accepts spaces in filenames. I can see the justification for 2 on a temporary bases in the case of mail receipts when you have changed ISP. But 4 ??? Ghee wizz look at the $+Cents. DL>Question how do I overcome this problem. Any assistance would be appreciate Dave, First of all, the winsock.dll files normally do not have to be in two locations. They need be either in the directory of the application calling for them, or in the \windows directory. Test your ISP programs to see if they will run without the .dll in the \windows directory. If so, those applications need only be in separate directories from the others. For those which require the winsock.dll to be in the \windows directory (assuming different files with identical names), the solution lies in creating a batch program to run the ISP programs. The batch will assume that no winsock.dll file is in the \windows directory. It will first prompt you to choose the ISP program you wish to run, next copy the appropriate winsock.dll file from the applications directory to the \windows directory, next launch the ISP executable, and finally delete the winsock.dll file from the \windows directory.
