What I'm using them for is broadcast. The're included with automation and editing packages that are purchased premade. I've done some work with them seperate from the application software using the antex provided software. The actual control of the card is quite simple with command line type switching. but that is nowhere near having a full software package. I'll do some checking on this and see what i can come up with.. alan ___ * OFFLINE 1.58 * Apathy Error: Don't bother striking any key. --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: Arcs & Sparks (904) 461-9687 St. Augustine Fl. As I said, I don't realy know much about the RD8's features, but I can say a few things about the ADAT. With just a stock ADAT machine, you get an LRC (litle remote controller). The ADAT has unbal/bal ins and outs. You can set up to two location points along with a locate zero (which you can re-zero to another portion of the tape). There's a loop play feature that just plays from locate point 1 to 2 and back again. You can do punch in/out with the transport controls or a footswitch. It's probably just a better machine if you plan to use multiple machines in the future. YOu don't waste a lot of he money on each individual machine because most of those features can be controlled by the BRC (big remote control). --- Renegade v10-05 Exp * Origin: [FidoNet] Morph BBS, Wilmette, IL 708-251-2307 (1:115/251) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 200 PRO AUDIO Ref: C3Q00000 Date: 03/18/95 From: BOB BLOUNT Time: 11:22pm \/To: ALAN ALSOBROOK (Read 8 times) Subj: Turtle Beach Quad studio AA> On 03-14-95 Bob Blount wrote to Alan Alsobrook... At that time, the high- impedance unbalanced model (1/4" plug) sold for about $200 ($ American).. Crown made other models, all balanced, Low-Z (3-Pin connector) ranging up from there. The main difference between the low-end Crown model and the Radio Shack model was in sensitivity (I think it was around 6 dB). As I understood it, Crown did not manufacture them for Radio Shack. RS had their own mfg plant under license, maybe in Mexico. The capsule's specs were inferior to the Crown, although, you probably did pay a premium for the Crown name stamped on the mic. I own and use the RS version. It is less sensittive, and has an inferior S/N ratio, but is adequate for home video cam and other non-pro uses. Wade ...
