If you have an unsecured (regular old) Win95 CD, then you probably don't need the CAB files. Of course, if you need a driver for your CD-ROM you might be out of luck without them. Some systems come with a secured CD. I know that if you ever do a complete reinstallation you have to boot from a special floppy to read it, but I don't know how accessible it is normally. Try installing something inessential from the CD and see if it works. If so, then you could probably get rid of the CABs - unless they include special drivers for YOUR system. You might take a look at how the computer manuf. goes about restoring a complete OS. Sometimes using the cab files on the hard drive can save some time. I have both versions on the HD. It has kept me on occasion from digging around to find the install CD :-). If you need the space "DEL" always worked for me :-). Being "cautious" might have you backing the files up to another drive or some such media that will enable you to "recover" if disaster strikes. Would type more but gotta hit the road to work. TTYL.
