GD> Take for instance, the incident in Denver, a few weeks back. GD> There was a group of guys beating a cab driver. They eventually GD> killed him, and stuffed him in the trunk of his cab. GD> GD> This was all in the view of many apartments. The police never GD> knew about it, until his family inquired about him, and the police GD> found his car, but it wasn't until a while later, that they GD> discovered the body in the trunk. It has come out since that a call (1) was placed to 911. It was a due to a 'clerical' error between 911 and the police department that failed to get the information passed. Saw it on CNN, CNBC and in my local paper. It was just mentioned in passing which I thought sucked. I also thought that only one person calling sucked. GD> If, even one person had called the police and reported the GD> incident, it may never have come to death. See above. RB> to the end of the Vietnam War, Hmmmmm, the right of free speech via protest of a unpopular war. RB> to the Civil Rights Movement. Again, through protests and the ballot box. And, in general, none of those things you mentioned were outside 'the system'. Actually, soneone who is paying attention, in good shape, knows his hardware can do with a little less than 1 second if his brakes and tires are in better shape than those of the guy ahead of him - but two seconds is better, and it's easier to figure than how long a car is and how many of them would fit between two vehicles. I get uncomfortable when the anal sphincters push into that space, but usually they're gone again in short order. I find the two seconds easy to check, easy to maintain, and what speed I travel doesn't make a difference in that rule, whereas if you're using a car length for x mph, it gets hard to figure - and we wouldn't want folks having to THINK, too! --- AdeptXBBS v1.11z (FREEWare/2) * Origin: CopShop AdeptXBBS (1:261/3050) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 198 ASK A COP Ref: F5G00640 Date: 04/24/98 From: JOHN F DAVIS Time: 09:58am \/To: RON TAYLOR (Read 0 times) Subj: Teenage Smoking RT>There are VERY few smoke free restaurants.
