I realize you are just replying to a message, but the message is off-topic. This is just another pleasant request to keep messages on-topic in ASKACOP. Please do not reply to off-topic messages here. This is a law enforcement echo designed primarily to let citizens ask questions of police officers and discuss law enforcement procedure. Politics, communes, racism, sexism, classism, and many other subjects are simply off-topic here. The echo rules are posted once a week, and I would really appreciate it if everyone would read the portion about topics which belong in this echo. Thanks for helping us all get this echo back on topic. Strategies for dealing with crime problems is also becoming popular and on-topic. I would sincerely appreciate the assistance of all in getting the messages back on-topic in ASKACOP. Again, this message is completely off-topic in this echo. ASKACOP is not about changing our form of government, forming collectives, forming communes, establishing bartering systems, or whatever you might come up with next that has nothing to do with ASKACOP. I actually enjoy reading many of your messages, but they have nothing to do with this echo and they are off-topic. If you placed these messages in the proper echo, I'm sure they would be very popular. I'll try to locate several echos for you where these topics are appropriate. I'm sure that the participation in the discussion would be much greater in an echo where your messages would be on-topic. I have several emails and netmails about your off-topic messages. First, System Operators pay to bring their mail in, and they choose echo areas the users of the system request. System Operators don't appreciate having to pay for messages that are off-topic. System Operators also don't like the complaints from their users that their topic is no longer being discussed in their favorite echo. Many people have limited time and have no desire to wade through off-topic messages. These and other reasons are why there is more than 1 echo out there in FIDO land. Many people choose their echos just like they choose their music, magazines, etc. They don't want to waste their time or money on something they have no interest in. Echos used to be called SIGs, and they still are by many people who have been around for awhile (SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS). Please consider this to be another pleasant request to refrain from posting off-topic messages in ASKACOP. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Ryan, you really need to read the rules for this conference. Again, this message is off-topic for ASKACOP. I think this would save both of us some time and effort. Legalization of drugs is off-topic for this echo. Your opinion of whether there should or should not be laws about the use of marijuana is off-topic for this echo. BTW, the police do not make the laws and neither do the Legalize Marijuana Organizations. Your message probably belongs in a Civil Liberties Echo. Your messages indicate that you would probably fit in nicely there. Again, please consider this to be a pleasant request to stop posting messages in ASKACOP which are off-topic. I realize there is a time delay from the time I write the message and the time you read the message, so I'm going to be very reasonable about this. I know that you don't like rules, and you certainly don't like to be told to obey a rule, so I really doubt that you will accept my pleasant requests or honor them. I hope that I'm wrong. I do enjoy reading many of your messages, and I know that you are capable of writing on-topic messages.
