RR> Dark Horse has the rights to the Hornet??? I don't know, but I seriously doubt it! I think when NOW COMICS went under, The Green Hornet sunk with the ship! I think That Topps Comics would be a good choice to take over the Hornet, but look how slow they are with Zorro, and Lady Rawhide. I think Dark Horse is most likely to obtain the rights to Green Hornet, especially after the movie is made (whenever they get around to it!). On the other hand, regardless of who obtains the rights, I think that the Uncle to Nephew lineage that NOW COMICS establish will get discarded, and that would be the terrible side of it all. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: EVERGREEN ONE,Cashmere Wa.ZyXel 2864 28.8 (509) 782-4259 1:344/91) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F4500001 Date: 04/03/98 From: DAVID BLOCKER Time: 09:53pm \/To: ROBERT RICHARDS (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Stung by The Green Hornet DJ> I bought the first 8 or so issues of the first DJ> run, but it seems that DJ> they rather lost their way, with both the DJ> direction ,then the art.I DJ> always liked the link the character had, having DJ> the lone ranger be his DJ> grandfather, and there could have been some kind of a gennerations DJ> spanning storyline to more unite the strips, DJ> say of a lost treasure, The DJ> grandson of an old lone ranger foe seeking it, DJ> vowing vengence for his DJ> familys woes, &, The hornet teaming up with,The DJ> grandson of tonto, to DJ> really carry the old legacy into our times. Tonto & Kato (sp?) working RR> to maybe Save the Hornet? By the time that Ikano Kato (The Golden Age Kato) came into the picture, Tonto, assuming he was still alive in the late 1930's would have been a very old man by that time era. I am uncertain as to what time era Lone Ranger and Tonto operated, but considering that Tonto is the same age as The Original Green Hornet's Granduncle, Tonto would be old enough to be The Green Hornet's Grandfather. So can you see an Indian about 85 years old teaming up with a Japanese who is about 25, to save The Green Hornet that would be about 35? Hardly realistic! Perhaps have one of the youngest sons of Tonto's (establishing that he had several children over a long stretch of time) team-up with the Original Kato to rescue the Hornet. I would love to see modern day descendants of The Lone Ranger & Tonto go into operation in todays world in honor of their respective predecessors. Perhaps instead of horses, they could ride on a Silver Platted motorcycle called "Silver", and a Painted Motorcycle called "Scout". :-) --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: EVERGREEN ONE,Cashmere Wa.ZyXel 2864 28.8 (509) 782-4259 1:344/91) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 101 COMICS Ref: F4A00000 Date: 04/05/98 From: GARY LAU Time: 04:11am \/To: DAVE JANSEN (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: RANMA About RANMA , from Dave Jansen to Gary Lau Dated 29 Mar 98 17:20:36... This one was actually ALMOST as funny as the early sixties Mads, but the artwork was poorer and the writing was OBVIOUSLY inspired by Mad. Mad, however, has been so lame since about 1965, it isn't funny, (pun intended,) and it is now obviously written and drawn by a bunch of old farts WAAYYYY past their prime, some of which actually come off addle-brained, (Paul Peter Borges,) and they ALL come off tired. When Sol Weinstein left to do his "Oy-Oy-Seven" books and later died, the magazine went to hell. I <> wonder why either Severin never worked for Mad. Or why Elder and Kurtzman left.
